Our Story

Born from a Passion for Fresh Food

Chopt began in 2009 with a simple but powerful idea: that a chopt-style meal could be as satisfying as any restaurant dish, while being far more nourishing. Our founders, longtime New Yorkers with a love for bold flavors and global ingredients, opened our first location at 24 E 17th Street with nothing more than sharp knives, a market full of fresh produce, and a vision.
